A unique sound therapy
This unique sound therapy helps children and adults with auditory processing difficulties. It rebalances the hearing process with an individualised programme. The Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation programme is the only sound therapy which uses information from audiometric tests to arrange tailor-made musical compositions for an individual’s sensory processing profile.

The programme is suitable for children from the age of three, as well as adolescents and adults.
How your auditory processing is assessed
I will measure your capacity to hear a wide range of frequencies using an audiometer and conduct a series of listening and movement tests to check how you process sound. Your auditory profile is sent away to the Johansen specialist who will arrange the appropriate music compositions to stimulate your individual auditory processing system.
The client then listens to the tracks in a set order over a period of some weeks. Reviews will take place every 4-10 weeks, depending on the client’s age, and a new CD will be made for the next stage in their auditory stimulation programme.
About Johansen IAS
The Danish teacher and psychologist Dr Kjeld Johansen first developed the programme in the 1970s, after researching ways to help children and adults who had auditory processing difficulties. There are now trained Providers in 18 countries for this programme.
The music has been specially composed in collaboration with the musician Bent-Peder Holbech as a result of intensive research into both music and medical theories about the differing functions of the left and right ear. The Johansen music gently organises auditory processing by stimulating the nerve pathways, particularly to the areas dealing with language.
